DETROIT, June 14, 2021 – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Dedicated Senior Medical Centers (Dedicated), a subsidiary of ChenMed, today announced the locations of six new primary care centers they are partnering on as Dedicated opens the facilities in Metro Detroit to provide health care to seniors. ChenMed, the parent company of Dedicated, is a leading primary care provider offering personalized and affordable services that improve health for seniors. Dedicated follows the proven ChenMed approach to high-touch care that consistently yields better health outcomes. Senior patients receiving care at Dedicated centers experience noticeably lower hospital admissions and per member costs than comparable national averages for Medicare beneficiaries. The 6150 Cadieux clinic will be located in the East Warren/Cadieux area of Detroit, the same neighborhood that Blue Cross is investing $5 million in through 2022, a pledge that will help inclusive neighborhood development through Detroit’s Strategic Neighborhood Fund and Affordable Housing Leverage Fund. “Expanding access to quality, affordable health care is a key mission of ours and we’re proud to partner with Dedicated Senior Medical Centers to help serve Blue Cross’ Individual Medicare Advantage members in neighborhoods where current access to primary health care may be limited,” said Todd Van Tol, senior vice president of Health Care Value at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “These new health centers will offer additional access to convenient, reliable care, improving their health outcomes.” “We’re thrilled to bring affordable, VIP care that delivers better health to seniors in the underserved neighborhoods where they live,” said Len Scarpinato, D.O., M.S., national director of launch and integration for ChenMed. “There’s a tremendous need for more primary care in underserved Metro Detroit neighborhoods. Dedicated doctors offer truly personalized care with an abundance of love. We are looking forward to transforming care – especially for the seniors with multiple chronic health conditions who need it the most.” ChenMed expects to invest $20 to $25 million in the new health centers and is currently hiring for a variety of positions at each location. They expect to hire approximately 200 area employees by 2023.
